Deuces Wild Strategy
Video poker is often times thought of as a money-eating machine. But the truth of the matter is video poker is one of he many casino games that has very low house edge when played with proper techniques. It’s not hard to find professionals in Vegas that will tell you Video Poker is a beatable game.
Video Poker, allows a player to choose the cards to dispose and the cards to keep. The chance of winning largely depends on how the player plays the hands given. The right way to play is often referred to as “optimal play.” Video Poker players who do not know about optimal play are long-term losers. One of the building blocks of optimal play is taking what you get.
A more popular version of video poker is Deuces Wild. The play starts when a player receives five cards. He must choose one card to keep and one to discard. In Deuces Wild, a good hand could be ‘three of a kind’ or better. All deuces are wild cards or jokers, which means they are used to replace the card a player is missing in order to make a hand.
The very first strategy for Deuces Wild Video Poker is to play maximum credits. Every day of the year large payouts are missed and the casinos make even more money, because video poker players don’t play max credits. By not playing the maximum credits allowed, you fail to unlock the jackpot payoff. Get four deuces and the crying will begin.
In Deuces Wild, you have to re-train your thought process from the normal way of thinking in regards to poker. For example, let’s say you get the hand of Jack-9-8-Ace-4. In traditional video poker (Jacks or Better), you might keep the Jack and Ace then re-deal the rest. Since you need three of a kind or better in Deuces wild, this is a bad play. With the above hand, the best strategy is to dump them all and do a total re-deal. If you are about to play Deuces Wild for the first time, take note of the pay table and play slow. It can take some getting used to.
Obviously, you should always keep deuces when they are dealt. When you have an initial hand that contains deuces, only keep other cards if they complete a higher payoff—like a Royal Flush and so on. Should you have three deuces dealt to you, only keep the deuces and discard the other two cards. This will give you two good chances are picking up the fourth deuce and getting a big payday.
